Governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno has announced an eight hundred million Naira (N800,000,000.00) empowerment fund for Ndi Igbo and other non-indigenous communities resident in the state.
The governor who disclosed this in a statement said his gesture was predicated upon the premise that the non-indigenous communities had chosen Akwa Ibom State as their home and have contributed immensely to the state’s growth.
“Yesterday, I joined the Ohaneze Ndi Igbo community to celebrate Igbo Unity Day and reaffirm our commitment to an Akwa Ibom where everyone, regardless of tribe, feels included and supported”, Gov Eno said in a post-Igbo Unity Day celebration statement.
Gov Umo Eno who was honoured during the Igbo Unity Day celebration held yesterday in Uyo as the Grand Patron of the Ohaneze Ndigbo Community, also appreciated the Igbo people for endorsing the 2027 re-election bids of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio and himself.
“Our administration has set aside ₦800 million to empower non-indigenous communities because many Ndi Igbo and others have made Akwa Ibom their home and contribute greatly to our growth.
I deeply appreciate the Ndi Igbo community for their unanimous endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and my humble self for a second term. Your confidence means a lot, and we will continue to justify your trust with inclusive, people-centered governance.
I’m honoured to be named Grand Patron, and I assure all residents that we will continue to promote peace, inclusion, and opportunities for everyone who chooses to live here in harmony”, the governor noted.
