Defection: Akwa Ibom now in APC’s safe hands -Nsima Ekere

Former Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State and ex-Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Obong Nsima Ekere, has commended Governor Umo Eno for joining the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing the move as a “placing the State in safe hands and a bold step towards progressive governance.”

Speaking at the grand reception held at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Saturday, Ekere expressed optimism that Eno’s defection would strengthen the party and foster development in the state.

“This is a historic moment for Akwa Ibom. Today is not just a celebration; it is the beginning of a new era. With Governor Umo Eno on board, we are poised to deliver transformative leadership and ensure Akwa Ibom takes its rightful place in Nigeria’s development journey,” Ekere declared.

Ekere, a prominent APC chieftain, urged the State to embrace the governor and work together for the collective good of Akwa Ibom.

“Politics should be about service, not division. With Governor Eno now in the APC, we have a unique opportunity to unite our people and accelerate development across all sectors. We have to support this administration to succeed – when it succeeds, we and the entire State succeed,” he said.

He further emphasized the need for collaboration between more States and the federal government.
