• 5 months after, Seriki still hurting from guber loss
• Cancelled City Boy inauguration smokes him out on disloyalty to APC
Former APC Chieftain Yahaya Seriki Gambari has finally begun open romance with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) following a visit by Senator Bukola Saraki to the headquarters of his company, Kursi Group, on Friday.
Earlier, there were rumours that Seriki had directed his followers to join PDP in Kwara shortly after he lost the APC gubernatorial primaries in May.
He was also reported to have nominated Kolo Baba Jiya and Saba Yisa Gideon for senatorial and house of assembly tickets respectively in PDP.
However, Seriki denied profusely, pointing at his role as Director, North Central of City Boy Movement.
The loyalty to APC was recently questioned when he reportedly sidelined the party structure to work with the PDP members for the inauguration of City Boy movement in Kwara.
This was eventually cancelled by Abuja with a directive that Seriki should work with the Kwara State Government, APC structure and other stakeholders as is customary across the country.
Abuja was also said to have declared that it had no interest in rainbow coalition in Kwara, asking all party chieftains to work for Tinubu’s reelection as well as all candidates of the APC in the state.
The Director General of CBM, Francis Shoga, later clarified that they would work with the Kwara State Government and party stakeholders for the inauguration of the movement in Kwara.
Percieved to be hurting from the stepping down of the inauguration event, Seriki has reportedly decided to begin open fraternity with the PDP, following months of hide and seek game.
It is believed that he has been found out following credible reports on his political activities.
Close sources to Seriki said he felt ashamed that he lost out in the fight for supremacy at Abuja.
Seriki is also reportedly being haunted by unfavourable security reports believed to hold sway in top quarters in the country.
There were reports that he had informed some of his fellow G15 chieftains that Abuja was not willing to hand over Kwara to anyone other than the Governor, urging them to prepare to officially defect along with him in the near future.
Abuja is firm in its support for maximum votes for Tinubu and the success of Kwara APC candidates in the 2027 polls.
Saraki, Seriki and Saliu Mustapha had been decieving their followers that President Bola Tinubu was supporting the G15 group and PDP alliance. The latest slap down from Abuja has been taken as a final signal that the Governor is in firm control of the party and enjoys a great support from Abuja on politics and leadership in the state.
