Just-In! Another Senator, Pam Dachungyang defects to APC

 

Senator Pam Mwadkon Dachungyang has formally defected from the Action Democratic Party (ADP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

His letter of defection was read on the Senate floor on Thursday by the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio.

In the letter, Dachungyang, who is representing the Plateau North Senatorial District cited irreconcilable differences within his former party, the ADP, as the reason for his decision.

He also stated that the APC offers a suitable platform for him to continue serving his constituents effectively.

Senator Dachungyang was elected in February 2024 during a rerun election with 122,442 votes. He is from a royal family in Riyom and has focused on security, youth engagement, and unity in his legislative role.

Some of his achievements as include education support where he offset WAEC fees for students and covered tuition fees for Plateau North students at the Maritime Academy, Oron, and Aviation College, Zaria.

On economic empowerment, Sen Dachungyang has implemented empowerment programs for women and youths, including skills acquisition and agricultural support.

The Plateau North Senator also consulted with traditional institutions and stakeholders to address insecurity and terrorism in his Senatorial District.

Legislatively, Sen Dachungyang has proposed bills to upgrade Plateau State Polytechnic to a Federal University of Science and Technology and converted the National Veterinary Research Institute to a Federal University.

Dachungyang is also the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Tourism while also serving on other committees.
