UYO— The leadership of the Labour Party in Akwa Ibom State has felicitated with its House of Representatives candidate for Uyo/Ibesikpo Asutan/Nsit Atai/Uruan Federal Constituency, Mr. Ikakke Bassey, on the occasion of his birthday, describing him as a beacon of hope and a true servant of the people.

In a goodwill message signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Comrade Ime Silas, and made available to newsmen in Uyo on Wednesday, the party said Mr. Bassey’s life has been marked by selfless service, integrity, and an unwavering dedication to the welfare of constituents across the four local government areas.

The message noted that as the party prepares for the next general elections, Mr. Bassey has continued to embody the ideals of the Labour Party — justice, equity, and people-first governance.

“Today, we celebrate not just the birth of Mr. Ikakke Bassey, but the vision, courage and resilience he brings to the political space in our dear state,” the statement read in part.

The message continues: “His commitment to listening to the people of Uyo, Ibesikpo Asutan, Nsit Atai and Uruan, and his resolve to offer quality representation, gives us great confidence that the Labour Party is presenting the right candidate for this critical constituency.”

Comrade Silas said the Labour Party in Akwa Ibom State is proud to associate with a candidate who has remained accessible to grassroots communities, engaged with youths, women, and traditional institutions, and consistently advocated for policies that will address unemployment, insecurity, and infrastructural decay in the federal constituency.

“We acknowledge Mr. Bassey’s sacrifices over the years in the pursuit of a better society. At a time when Nigerians are yearning for credible alternatives, his emergence on the platform of the Labour Party represents a fresh breath of honest leadership,” Silas maintained.

The State Publicity Secretary prayed for God’s guidance, good health, and divine protection upon the celebrator as he marks another year. He further urged party faithful and supporters across the four LGAs to use the occasion to reaffirm their commitment to mobilizing for victory in 2027.

“As you celebrate this new age, we pray that the Almighty will continue to strengthen you, grant you wisdom, and order your steps in the journey ahead. The Labour Party family in Akwa Ibom stands firmly behind you,” the message added.

Party members, stakeholders, and supporters across Uyo, Ibesikpo Asutan, Nsit Atai, and Uruan have also taken to social media and community gatherings to celebrate Mr. Bassey, describing him as a leader with empathy and a clear development agenda for the federal constituency.

The Labour Party reaffirmed its commitment to fielding credible candidates and building a political culture driven by accountability. It called on eligible voters in the constituency to continue to support Mr. Bassey’s candidacy as part of the broader movement towards rescuing and rebuilding Nigeria.
