The leader of Opposition Coalition in Akwa Ibom State, Obong (Dr) Uduakobong Udoh has reassured that the coming together of like-minded political parties under the coalition platform would be the game changer, come 2027.
Dr. Udoh who gave the assurance yesterday shortly after his group’s visit to the National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), Sen Nenadi Usman in Abuja, also noted that while consultations were ongoing, the major legacy political parties were intact.
The Labour Party Candidates Forum led by Barr Okeme Adejoh were on a solidarity visit to the Party’s National Chairman, Sen. Nenadi at her Abuja residence.
The Forum during the visit, congratulated Sen Nenadi on the Supreme Court judgement which sacked Mr Julius Abure, thereby affirming her position as the party’s National Chairman. The Candidates’ Forum pledged to work with her to reposition the party ahead of 2027 general election.
In a brief chat with newsmen after the visit, Obong Udoh who was the LP governorship candidate in 2023 gubernatorial election in Akwa Ibom State further stressed that the party was still intact and kicking.
“We were here to pay a solidarity visit to our National Chairman, Distinguished Sen Nenadi Usman and to congratulate her on the recent Supreme Court judgement which finally ousted Mr. Julius Abure”, Obong Udoh noted.
He continued “We were here in our capacity as the Labour Party Candidates’ Forum. Our presence today is another proof that contrary to insinuations, the Labour Party is intact, alive and kicking. The idea of opposition political parties coming together to form a coalition in order to unseat the current government is the best thing to happen to Nigeria.
It’s going to be a game changer come 2027. But while consultations are ongoing, the legacy political parties like the Labour Party are still intact. Like in my state, Akwa Ibom, we are mobilizing our people to ensure that we install a government we can truly call our own”.
