NDC candidate, OmoBarca congratulates Nigerians, Ajeromi-Ifelodun Constituents on Independence Day

Hon. Francis Barthlomew Chima, popularly known as OmoBarca, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for the Ajeromi-Ifelodun Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has felicitated Nigerians and his constituents on the occasion of the country’s Independence Day celebration.

OmoBarca, in a goodwill message to mark October 1, extended warm greetings to Nigerians across the country and those living abroad, while particularly celebrating the residents of Ajeromi-Ifelodun Federal Constituency for their resilience, contributions and commitment to the development of their communities.

He described Independence Day as an important occasion for Nigerians to reflect on the country’s journey, honour the sacrifices of previous generations, and renew their collective commitment to building a peaceful, united, and prosperous nation.

According to him, October 1 should serve not only as a day of celebration but also as an opportunity for citizens to reflect on the responsibilities that come with nationhood and democratic participation.

OmoBarca called on Nigerians to remain hopeful about the future of the country despite the economic and social challenges confronting many families and communities.

He said Nigeria possesses enormous human and natural resources which, if properly harnessed, could provide greater opportunities for citizens, particularly young people.

The NDC candidate also urged political leaders at all levels to remain focused on the welfare of the people and ensure that public resources are deployed transparently and responsibly.

He stressed the importance of responsive representation, noting that elected representatives should remain accessible to the people and pay attention to the issues affecting their everyday lives.

Speaking specifically to his constituents in Ajeromi-Ifelodun, OmoBarca expressed appreciation for their continued support and confidence.

He said the constituency has hardworking men and women, ambitious youths, entrepreneurs, traders, and professionals whose contributions remain important to the economic and social development of Lagos State and Nigeria.

The candidate reaffirmed his commitment to issues affecting ordinary residents, including education, healthcare, youth empowerment, employment opportunities, support for small businesses, and improved social welfare.

He said young people should be given opportunities to acquire relevant skills and participate meaningfully in the economy, while entrepreneurs and small business owners should receive the necessary support to expand their activities and create jobs.

OmoBarca also called for greater unity among Nigerians, urging citizens to look beyond ethnic, religious, political, and other differences and focus on issues that promote peaceful coexistence and national development.

He said the strength of Nigeria lies in its diversity and in the ability of its citizens to work together despite their differences.

The Ajeromi-Ifelodun federal constituency candidate further encouraged residents to participate actively in democratic processes and hold public officials accountable.

According to him, democracy is strengthened when citizens are informed, engaged, and willing to contribute to discussions about the future of their communities and the country.

OmoBarca said Independence Day should also remind Nigerians that nation-building is a collective responsibility involving government, political leaders, civil society, businesses, community organisations, and individual citizens.

He urged residents of Ajeromi-Ifelodun to continue supporting initiatives that promote peace, community development, and opportunities for young people.

OmoBarca also called on Nigerians in the diaspora to continue contributing to the development of their homeland through investment, knowledge transfer, philanthropy, and other forms of engagement.

As the country marks another year of independence, he urged Nigerians to celebrate peacefully and responsibly while remembering the sacrifices of those who contributed to Nigeria’s emergence as an independent nation.
