THEME:
Where is the gospel that breaks hearts again?
DAY 6 – Friday, June 27, 2025
MESSAGE TITLE:
The Forgotten Altar – When Repentance Is Missing
SCRIPTURE TEXT:
“Break up your fallow ground, for it is time to seek the Lord.” — Hosea 10:12
By: EFFIONG ETOK
Carrier of God’s Word
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
When repentance goes missing, revival becomes a performance-not a purification.
MESSAGE:
Child of God, when was the last time you wept before God-not because you were in pain, but because you saw your sin? We shout “Amen!” to prosperity but whisper when sin is mentioned.
The greatest tragedy is not that we sin-it’s that we sin and no longer tremble. A generation has risen that dances at the sound of grace but no longer mourns over disobedience. We say God understands… but do we understand what our sin does to His heart?
David, after adultery and murder, didn’t defend himself-he fell on his face and cried, “Cast me not away from Your presence…” (Psalm 51:11). He broke before the altar. But today, many of us explain away what we should be repenting of. We negotiate with what God says must be crucified.
Hosea pleads, “Break up your fallow ground…”-that hardened part of your heart that once felt fire but now feels nothing. It’s time to seek the Lord-not just with your words but with your wounds. Joel declared, “Rend your hearts, not your garments…” (Joel 2:13). God is not impressed by loud prayers that come from a cold heart.
Even Nineveh-a wicked city-trembled at the word of the Lord. From the king to the cattle, they fasted, repented, and cried out. And God relented (Jonah 3:5–10). If sinners once trembled, why are saints now hardened?
Beloved, revival does not start with clapping-it starts with weeping. Not just with songs but with surrender. True repentance is not a moment-it’s a movement. It’s a cry that says, “Lord, kill whatever in me that is killing Your Spirit.”
TAKEAWAY STATEMENT:
If repentance no longer moves us, then sin is already winning silently.
PRAYER POINTS
1. Lord, break me again. Whatever has hardened my heart-tears it down. Don’t let me carry a Bible with a heart that no longer weeps. Strip me of pride, numbness, and surface worship. Set me on fire with true repentance. Let my soul tremble again at Your Word. In Jesus’ Mighty Name, Amen!
2. Father, restore tears to the altar. Bring brokenness back to Your Church. Heal what sin has hardened. Let purity drown our pride, and mercy pour where rebellion once stood. Make us weep again-not for show, but from the depths of conviction. In Jesus’ Mighty Name, Amen!
