Gov. Otti to launch New Stadium City Project in Umuahia
Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has announced plans to officially commence the construction of a new stadium in Umuahia, envisioned as a modern sports city aimed at promoting sports, tourism, and economic growth.
The governor made this known while hosting Samuel Chukwueze at the Government House in Umuahia. Chukwueze visited to express gratitude for the governor’s support and presence during the burial of his late mother.
According to Governor Otti, the government has already secured land for the project and intends to develop it into a world-class sports hub featuring hotels, residential estates, and other complementary facilities.
He also praised Chukwueze for his accomplishments in football, describing him as an outstanding ambassador of Abia State and assuring him of continued support from the government.
Speaking during the visit, Chukwueze applauded the governor’s developmental efforts across the state, particularly the improvement of road infrastructure, which he noted has significantly enhanced the outlook of Umuahia.
The Super Eagles star further welcomed the proposed stadium project, describing it as a landmark investment in sports development, while reaffirming his commitment to supporting youth sports programs in the state.
