Democracy Day: “I See Better Days Ahead” -Prophet Ituen declares

…urges Nigerians to hope, pray for Tinubu

By Ime Silas

The spiritual leader of Christ Deliverance Ministries, CDM, His Grace Prophet Ekong Ituen, has assured Nigerians that “better days are ahead,” urging citizens to hold on to hope despite the country’s current economic and security challenges.

Speaking to journalists in Lagos on Thursday to mark Democracy Day, June 12, 2026, the renowned cleric said the hardship Nigerians are experiencing will not last. According to him, what is visible in the “spiritual realm” points to a new dawn for the nation.

“I see better days ahead for Nigeria. The suffering of the people will soon be over,” Prophet Ituen declared. “Despite the difficult economic and security situation we are facing as a nation, I want to encourage every Nigerian to keep hope alive. A new dawn is coming, and it is reflected clearly in the spiritual realm.”

The Prophet, whose prophecies over the years have drawn national attention, framed his message from a spiritual perspective. He acknowledged the frustration and anxiety many Nigerians feel due to rising costs of living, inflation, and persistent insecurity across several states. However, he insisted that the current phase is transitional.

“Nations go through seasons,” he said. “This season of hardship, of waiting, of pain, will give way to a season of restoration and prosperity. What God showed me is that the foundations are being laid now for the lifting that will come. Nigerians must not lose faith because the tunnel has an end, and the light at the end is getting brighter.”

Call for Prayers for President Tinubu

Prophet Ituen also used the Democracy Day briefing to appeal to Nigerians across religious and ethnic lines to intensify prayers for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He said divine wisdom and direction are critical for the President to steer the country through its reform agenda.

“My appeal to all Nigerians is this: pray for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he urged. “Pray for direction, pray for wisdom, and pray for the spirit of discernment to do the right things for this Nation. Leadership at this time is not easy. The burden is heavy. But when the people pray, God gives leaders the grace to make decisions that will benefit the masses.”

He added that democracy itself is a gift that must be protected through civic responsibility and spiritual intercession. “Democracy Day is not just for celebration. It is a reminder that power belongs to the people, and with that power comes the duty to support, to correct in love, and to pray for those God has placed in authority,” Prophet Ituen stated.

“Keep Hope Alive” Message to Citizens

The CDM leader stressed that hope is not passive, but an active posture that shapes national outcomes. He encouraged citizens to remain productive, support one another, and avoid despair even as reforms bite harder on households.

“Hope is what will carry us through,” he said. “When people lose hope, a nation drifts. But when people keep hope alive, they work harder, they stand together, and they position themselves to take advantage of the new season when it comes. That new season is nearer than many think.”

On the security front, Prophet Ituen said he had seen “a lifting of the veil of violence” in the spiritual realm. He prayed for protection over communities affected by banditry, kidnapping, and communal clashes, and called on government at all levels to prioritize intelligence and community policing.

“Every life matters to God. I pray for every Nigerian in the North, South, East, and West who has lost a loved one or livelihood to violence. I see healing coming, I see peace returning, and I see a Nigeria where mothers can sleep with their eyes closed knowing their children are safe,” he said.

Democracy Day Reflection

Democracy Day, observed annually on June 12, commemorates Nigeria’s return to civil rule and honors the struggle for democratic governance. This year’s celebration comes amid ongoing economic reforms, subsidy removal, and public debate over cost-of-living adjustments.

Prophet Ituen noted that democracy must deliver tangible benefits to citizens beyond elections and rhetoric. “Democracy without development is an empty shell,” he observed. “The true test of our democracy is in the market, in the classroom, in the hospital, and on the farm. When the ordinary Nigerian feels the impact, then we can truly celebrate.”

He concluded by blessing the nation and its leaders: “I bless Nigeria. I bless her people. I bless her leaders. And I declare that the days ahead will be better than the days behind. Nigeria will rise, Nigeria will shine, and the world will see the glory of this nation again.”

Christ Deliverance Ministries, based in Lagos, is known for its large congregational outreach and Prophet Ituen’s widely reported prophetic declarations on national issues. As Nigerians mark Democracy Day, his message adds a spiritual dimension to the national conversation on patience, governance, and collective resilience.
